TownH@ll
July 2024

People are too busy to be involved in civic engagement events in their communities, in terms of both commute and in terms of educating themselves to the point of feeling confident enough to participate. Based on a Human Computer Interaction course prompt to create an app that increases civil engagement, my team launched a high-fidelity prototype for an app named TownH@ll. Learn more about it below!

Purpose

The purpose of this mobile app aimed to foster and facilitate civic engagement that involves an intuitive and engaging platform encouraging of active participation and informed decision-making. More specifically, the TownH@ll app intended to provide users with easily digestible, easily accessible, fact checked information relate to civic matters in their local communities.

My role

My role as a part of this team consisted of heavily contributing ideas towards the intricate details to be included in our final product from the layout of the home page and all other pages, the name of the app, the crucial hashtags, the events calendar, the user profile, and the live stream functionality, as well as collaborating on all aspects of the wireframing, the presentation design, and all facets of the project itself.

Tools & technologies

Among the tools and tech used to bring this idea to fruition is Figma, which was employed to create a high fidelity wireframe for the app and its functions. Balsalmiq was also used for preliminary wireframing. To showcase the final conclusion, our team worked to create a website using the Glitch platform.

Process

As a part of our process, we carefully  considered our design rationale based on theories of color, color readability for visually impaired people, and overall cohesion.
